Biography Omar Costilla-Reyes received the M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of North Texas, Texas, U.S.A. in 2014. During his master studies, he was a research assistant in projects with funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). His M.Sc. dissertation was on dynamic indoor positioning systems using wireless sensor networks and machine learning. He is currently a PhD candidate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Manchester, U.K; where he has published research papers on applications of machine learning for gait analysis in security and healthcare. His Journal paper entitled "Temporal Pattern Recognition in Gait Activities Recorded With a Footprint Imaging Sensor System" was one of the 25 most downloaded IEEE Sensors Journal papers in the months of January – May 2017. His research interest lies in applications of machine learning using sensor systems for security and healthcare. He received the Best Student Paper Award in Optical Sensing applications at the 2015 IEEE Sensors Conference. He has won scholarships and awards for academic achievement including an academic scholarship for his master's and doctorate studies from the Mexican Science council (CONACyT).

Biography Edgar is Business + Technology Consultant and Physicist with 11+ years of experience as a software architect in automotive, chemical, government and retail sectors in Costa Rica, México and The Netherlands. Edgar has developed industry solutions based on innovative business practices. Nowadays he is integrating hyper-connectivity, big data, cloud computing and supercomputing into industry digital transformation. During his consultancy career, Edgar has participated in more than 10 ERP implementation. Additionally he works on consultancy for critical process developing complete software solutions and products following critical business operations. Edgar holds a Master on theoretical physics as a mix grade from UNAM and Radboud universities and currently is looking for a PhD candidate on complex networks modelling for IoT and Big Data.

Biography Miguel P Xochicale is a doctoral researcher in the Department of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering at University of Birmingham under the supervision of Professor Chris Baber and Professor Martin Russell. Miguel received a B.Sc. degree in Electronics from Instituto Tecnológico de Puebla (ITP), México. He then received his M.Sc. degree in Electronics from Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica (INAOE), México in 2006. He developed a Dance Demo Interaction with a service Robot in 2013 at INAOE's robotics laboratory and also worked in various Universities in Puebla, Mexico from 2006 to 2013. For his current work at The University of Birmingham, he was awarded a fully scholarship from the Mexican National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT) to work on his Ph.D. research project entitled "Automatic Classification of Movement Variability in the context of Human-Robot Interaction" from 2014 to 2018. Miguel is gaining understanding of the variability of human movements using Nonlinear Dynamics Time Series Analysis and Deep Learning to create novel analysis and interpretation of signals collected through a network of wearable inertial measurement units and a webcam for facial behaviour analysis.

Biography Daniel Ortega is currently a PhD candidate and research associate in the Institute for Natural Language Processing (IMS) at the University of Stuttgart, his main research fields are spoken language understanding and spoken dialogue systems. He obtained a bachelor degree in Telematics from the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico in 2010 and a MSc in Computational Linguistics from the IMS in 2016, whose dissertation was on dialogue act classification using convolutional neural networks. In 2013, he was awarded with a JICA scholarship, given by the Japanese government, to do a six-month stay in the Ritsumeikan University. His master and PhD studies have been funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the National Council of Science and Technology of Mexico (CONCAyT).

Biography Abelardo Rodríguez Pretelín is a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Stochastic Simulation and Safety Research for Hydrosystems in the University of Stuttgart with particular interests in Data driven simulation, Stochastic Modeling, Heuristic optimization, Sensitivity analysis, Geotechnical and Groundwater modeling. Prior to enrolling at the University of Stuttgart, he worked for three years as geotechnical consultant in Mexico. He holds a master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering and Management from the University of Stuttgart and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the Universidad Veracruzana. In his research he focuses on developing new methodologies that can protect groundwater resources against time varying flow conditions triggered by seasonal or changing climatic conditions.

Biography Sergio Morales Ortuno is currently a PhD candidate and certificated graduate assistant at the group of Continuum Biomechanics and Mechanobiology (CBM) of the SimTech cluster from the University of Stuttgart. Sergio's research interests focus on Cardiac / Aortic Valve Extra Cellular Matrix remodelling investigation under the scope of Finite Element Analysis, Continuum Mechanics and Image Processing techniques. Sergio's background is as a mechanical engineer, Bachelor degree which he obtained at the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico City to then specialize in Computational Mechanics, getting a M.Sc. degree at the University of Stuttgart. Previously to his Master degree studies, Sergio worked as Product Engineer at Chrysler Mexico.
